An Update or Two

Posted in Movies, Music on October 14th, 2019 by James

It’s been awhile since I’ve didn’t an update. Figured it was about time since I’ve got stuff I could mention.

Lets see, movies that we have that stand out is the Joker. Holy smokes, such a great movie. Really enjoyed it. Dark, and not your typical comic book movie.

Saw Rancid few weeks ago. Expensive gig, but we have a great time. Rancid played all of the good stuff. Saw Stiff Little Fingers this past weekend. Great gig, saw some good ol friends. Drank a bit much, woke up with a hang over Saturday.

Saturday morning helped Matt with laying some sod. Hungover and all, but managed to help him. Felt great to help him lay some sod. Feels like it was the least I could do for him. Still sore from that. Saturday evening played poker. Took 11th out of about 30 players. Made some bad calls towards the end. Should have known better. Oh well. Got one more month to make some more points. But should be good for the final table of the year. I do think it’ll be cutting it close, but should be good.

Anyways, that’s all I’ve got for now.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend wasn’t too bad. Not 100% perfect, but had a good weekend. Stephanie has been working a lot of overtime over the past few months. The company was nice enough to give her Friday off (paid) so she had a four day weekend. So I went ahead and took Friday off too, giving us both a four day weekend.

Thursday night we went Wendover for the night. I played some poker, and took 1st place. Won a total of 625 dollars. Not too many players, about 17 players. Played a solid game, and luck was on my side.

I don’t remember too much of Friday, but do remember it being a low key day.

Life is Good

So I’ve been with Stephanie for just about 5 years. 5 great wonderful years. So this past weekend we celebrated 5 years from our first date/VD/etc. Went to grab Sushi which was damn tasty. May go again this upcoming weekend. After lunch we went to go see Green Book, which is a great movie. Think it may have been the best movie we’ve seen for 2018.

Saturday night played poker with the guys. Didn’t play the best. Just not the best cards, or the cards just didn’t play. I’m guessing I took 14th. Should have sat on my cards, and got into the top 10.

Last night me and Jim took the yearly Wendover birthday trip. Did really good at one blackjack table, sat down with 25, and walked away with 125. But doesn’t make up for the other money I lost. Lost more than I wanted too. Oh well, it was fun. I’m guessing I won’t be going to Wendover anytime soon.

Snowy Extended Weekend

Not a bad weekend with lots of driving, and lots of snow. Since I had Monday off from work, I decided to take Friday off, and give myself a nice four day weekend.

Thursday after work, we ran Gabe down to Helper, UT. Roads down here weren’t too bad, just lots of rain. Up US-6 we ran into some snow, but wasn’t too bad. The way back was another story. Snow packed roads all the way down the canyon till we got to Springville, then it was rain again. I think we average speed was about 20-30mph down the whole canyon on snow pack roads. Needless to say, it was a long drive. Left at about 3:15pm, and didn’t get back till about 8:30pm. It’s about 200 miles round trip.

Second weekend of the year, and everything is still going good. Diet is going alright, didn’t eat the best this weekend. Went to La Puente for dinner Friday evening, and it was damn tasty.

We finished up Killing Eve, and it’s a great show. We also finished up Sick Note, and Barry. Both alright shows.

Not a bad weekend by any means, and doing alright with my diet. One of my goals for this year is my diet. Eat better and try to loose some weight. I was 229 Jan 2nd, by the end of the week, down to 224. My goal is loose 50 lbs. No clue if it’ll happen, but anything is better than nothing.

Friday night was alright. Bubblebee for dinner, Stephanie went to bed early since she had work on Saturday 🙁 I ended up watching the new Mission Impossible – Fallout. It was alright, nothing amazing, but a fun flick.

Ended on a Great Note

Ended on a Great Note

Had a pretty good week. I think it was mostly cause it ended on a great high point. Had Saturday off from work. So what do I do??? Go to the bar, and have an awesome time. I was able to talk Justine into coming down and picking up the kids Friday. Me and Megan car pooled up from Orem. Picked up Glad from work, got ready, and then off to the bar. Few bands were playing including Corvid. The music wasn’t bad, didn’t have any major complaints over it. Got home at about 1am. Picked up a 12 pack of Pabst on the way home. Was up having a good ol time, Ben left about 4am or so. Time just flew by, next thing I know, it was 6am. Up at 5:30 Friday morning, up till Saturday 6am. Haven’t pulled one of those off in a long time.

Saturday morning I was up at 10am. Don’t know why, I was tired. Just didn’t feel like going to bed. We had Ben, Val, Derek over for breakfast. After that, me and Glad went to take Megan back home. We then run out to Magna, and went to the Wine Store with my mom to pick up some wine for Xmas Eve. Made a stop by Cafe Rio, and then finally home. Watched a few episodes of Dexter, then off to bed. Long day, and I was in bed at 9pm. The sleep was much needed.

I did watch a great movie this past Thursday. It’s called World’s Greatest Dad. I really enjoyed the movie. Dark comedy fucked up movie. Not your typical Hollywood movie with a nice ending. ha!!

The Past Week…

The Past Week...

Woke up Tuesday morning and got the kids off to school. Went back to bed for a few hours then got up to see Inglourious Basterds. Glad wasn’t feeling up to it, and stayed at home. So I just went by myself. I really enjoyed the movie, and thought it was great. It was about time I saw a full price movie that I enjoyed. I guess I enjoy the Watchmen also.

Tuesday night, Val Crum came into town. We took the kids to see Def Leppard and Poison. Not really my cup of tea, but I had a good time. Traffic was HORRIBLE. We got there an hour late and missed Cheap Trick. If traffic wasn’t an issue, we would have gotten there in 5-10 minutes. But it took a good solid hour to get there. Then afterwards, it took us an hour to get home. It was worth it, and I had a good time.

Wednesday night, me and the kids went to Valley Fair Mall. I got a new case for my phone. Afterwards, Jim came over to play some cribbage. Usually the games of cribbage with Jim are real close, or I get my ass kicked. Needless to say, it was the other way around. Either way, I had a good time.

Been Too Busy….

Posted in General, Movies on July 17th, 2009 by James

to keep this darn thing updated. Last Saturday, we went on up to Lagoon for a family reunion. Had a good fun time there. Jayden and James both wussed out when it came to alot of the rides. Me and Glad didn’t let that slow us down, and rode abunch of the rides. Yesterday, I went on up to Evanston to fixed the inlaws computer. That was nice to hang out with Val and Becky for a bit. We had Val Crum, and Ben over Tuesday night for dinner and to hang out. That was a fun to have them over. Wednesday morning Me, Glad, and the kids went to go see Transformers. I wasn’t impressed. I thought it was a boring movie, sure some of the action scenes were fun, but was just boring. Acting, plot, story, etc was just weak. Work has been very busy this past week.

Crazy Week, Lots of Movies

Posted in Movies, Music on May 1st, 2009 by James

Seen abunch of movies over the past week. Tuesday Megan came over which was good. We all went to the Vibrator show. Had an awesome time, but the music was a disappointment. The lead singer/guitar player wasn’t there. So the vocals were shared between the bass, and the drummer. Then they had some new guy on the guitar. Disappointment, yes. Damn good time, yes.

Wow for movies I’ve watched over the past week.

The Wrestler: Awesome, really enjoyed the movie.

The Reader: Still not sure about this movie. I would say that I enjoyed it. I guess it’s worth watching.

The Uninvited: It was entertaining. Not sure about the ending. But I wouldn’t say it was good.

Baghead: -yawn- Something about it, that I enjoyed. What that was, I don’t know. Cause it sounds like a lame movie, and was to a point.
